Like a bit of music: shows in 2023

It seems I have had quite an adventure musically, sometimes not always sure of what I was going to and when needed it has been by myself.

When in Peterborough at the beginning of the year, we looked at what was available at one of the theatres for a mid week show. All being gals from the 80ies, when the show descriptions discussed being a musical of 80ies music we imagined ourselves singing along to all the oldies. How wrong were we, as it turned out to have a cult following not resembling the era we had experienced. The show was 'Heathers the Musical', based on the 1988 movie a bit dark & sinister while funny but not what we were expecting as far as singing along to 80ies songs!

An enjoyable show, great singing and dancing whilst amusing as the majority of the audience were dressed in similar outfits as the main actress leads. We did come away baffled at how this show had obviously passed us by in our youth.

Finally Rachel and I got to see ABBA Voyage in Stratford, enjoyed a chauffeur ride as Roger tagged along too. A great party experience with good ole disco like the old days, we really enjoyed a good dance together, always great people watching especially in their ABBA clothes.

Always enjoy Pete Tong & The Heritage Orchestra, usually very loud when I am by myself  in my car. So when Pete Tong  came to Earlham Park in Norwich in the summer, it was a must to go in the end by myself! It was bit of an experience by myself, which I hadn't anticipated, the event was great but the crowd was not so pleasant. Perhaps I have edged into that 'grumpy old lady' category of life!

I captured one of my favourite tunes 'Insomnia', as I got right to the very front of the crowd with a whole lot less pushing and shoving. Hope you enjoy.

Next on the agenda with my Orpington contract based friends, Sherrie & Jo, we took a mid week treat to Savoy Theatre to see 'Sunset Boulevard' staring Nicole Scherzinger. A modern production on a Lloyd-Webber classic, with mixed response. I really enjoyed it & thought Nicole was both stunning & stupendous in her performance, definite fab show from me.

Then my last cultured venture was again with my pals from Peterborough, Mary and her friend. We met up and journeyed to Nottingham from Peterborough to be engulfed in the pleasurable tunes of Donny Osmond. He really is a stunning entertainer! A very impressive rap of his significant career, he roamed the audience asking what tune did we want to hear bringing the old tunes to life again. Sentimental twaddle but an emotional experience when sang and performed by a legend.

Hope you enjoy these snippets of the show, singing
Puppy Love
Crazy Horses
The Proud One
Twelfth of Never
Don't Love Me For Fun Girl

  1. Hi Nic, loved the Donny O clips! I’m not a fan at all never was, but enjoy him now strangely! We can’t imagine their lives they’ve lived but how lovely is he to mingle with his fans & sing and chat. I might even go & see him - he is the absolute consummate showman/performer for which I have the greatest respect. I went to Mamma Mia the Party at 02 recently think you would enjoy that with some girlfriends. Off to see Cique du Solei this weekend seen them a few times but not for a few years. Love the theatre always have done - it’s what I should have done really!!! Lots of love to you all & my favourite young man, Dylan 😘
