A major birthday event for me in October (2024). What a shock that was to be suddenly beholding such an immense age and still can not say the number easerly, but I celebrated in style! A week long occasion, to scoot around those round numbers, I celebrated a gloroius birthday of sixty years having a fabulous time.
My celebrations were spent being with my dearest doing the things I enjoy most. Lunch overlooking Cromer beach is my idea of heaven, a great 'surf & turf' at No1 Cromer Road, having been beautified to my very best in the morning with curls and everything!
The view from our resturant window, sublime!
The next day we took ourselves off to a London show, 'Six' a musical describing the realtionship of Henry 8th wives; bright & a disco.
Great fun together, dodging the public marches around Trafalgar Square, the rather unique chinese we stopped at; the dumplings just kept coming so hoping the homeless folk next door enjoyed them too, quite a 'bonkers' experience.
The weekend concluded on a beautiful family & close friends party at our local, Hingham White Hart, and what a fantastic party organised for me, really pleased. Please enjoy my video below.
The weekend followed a week at Forest Holidays near Thetford, just down the road from us! We enjoyed 'Weapons through the Ages', an energetic 3 hours and more from a very interesting ballistics expert. A personal spa pamper in our cabin, then our personal Chef experience came to cook for us. Chef Cayetano has an international experience of royality, huge national events then us in our silver cabin on our Forest Holidays. Bonkers!!
Reflecting on reaching this exordinary age has hit me like a bolt, has forced me to review my approach to life, likely for the first time and its been interesting. I have conciously taken my foot off the driving pedal which has in the past forced relationships to continue and perhaps a little too one-sided. Often the outcome of pushing is disappointment and sadness which frequently lies at my door. In my concious approach to change; I have stopped pushing and hoping or expecting from relationships and finely laid back to go with the flow, creating a calmer inner soul for me. This has been a significant moment in reaching 60years of age, although I appreciate I am probably a bit later to the party anyway as others have come to this conclusion years before meπ
The other major celebrations last year (beyond Milo & Rebecca's marriage, see previous posts) was my dear Ma reaching her octogenarian years. I think stepping into those new age brackets are quite a moment. Celebrated with a lovely gathering of us girls with Ma n Pa, then a full on family gathering with birthday cake and singing in their little cottage. A few pictures to remember the moments, enjoyπ!
A lovely meal together at Rocky Bottoms, West Runton.

John Giraudy shared by email; Hi Nicola, Thanks for the Blog and a belated Happy Birthday. I still remember collecting sea shells with you at St. Paul’s Bay in Malta when you were a cute four-year old. And enjoyed helping you and Vanessa to make sand castles. Time flies but the memories linger. Happy to see your Mum and Dad at the party. Please say hello to both of them for me. Best wishes John Giraudy Ex Naxxar resident
Hi Nicola, lucky I found this it went straight to spam. What a wonderful year of celebrations! I must admit I’m not too fond of these 60’s, how did they get here so fast!. Loved the reunion, it was so nice to catch up with old school friends. Hope to make it back again next year, just not sure when yet. All the best to you Jerry & family xx
Deb Hardy from Messenger. We watched your video together, good job π. Lovely pics of Keith & Milo, who was honoured to be only doggie present. Keith said ‘there’s me looking very old’ π, I have pointed out that none of us are in the first flush of youth π€£. See you soon xx
