What a Riot of Colour This Year!

I started this post at the end of the summer and here I am at the end of November still thinking about the colour of our summer both in the garden and out and about.  Grey days and the chilliest mornings so far thinking about the riot of colours this summer seems appropriate probably more now than earlier months.

At the beginning of October I was sharing about my poor rambling rose; now just long skinny stems sprouting from the wall with mostly veins resembling what were leaves. These are the remnants of the smallest caterpillars who in force, have eaten my rose; it is the saddest product of a beautiful summer of much colour!

Then the second comment to pass about my garden and most unusual is the magnolia in full leave as expected, had an unexpected single flower as should be flowering in early spring before the leaves come through. Now at the end of November the magnolia flower did not achieve a full bloom but withered away as a bud, now almost all the leaves dropped.

My garden at its best this year

Spring time Magnolia, full of budding flowers
This is a beautiful pink flower in remembrance of Ivy Mae, stunning this year! The colour along the side of our house again impressive and full of bees & butterflies. The little red leafed tree at the end has just got more beautiful with the deepest red at the end of the autumn.
The roses always look pretty, the trio of clematis have just bloomed into the most impressive array of flowers we have had to date.

The first signs of spring is always sight of snowdrops, this year we caught them when we had a half term trip to 'The Royal Mint' in Cardiff, its surprising how little we know about something we use every day, our coinage.

Coins made for UK and all around the world along with Olympic medals, these are from 2012
Old & new designs, all miniature pieces of art.

 Nice hot chocolate!

One of the highlights of gorgeous shows of flowers is Peter Beales Rose Garden  in June, just on the edge of Attleborough. We don't often go but decided to this year indulgencing in a cheeky coffee & scone. The views are staggering and as we walked around, through clouds of scent it was sublime!

The next gorgeous place for a vision of colour & again scent to savour is the rhododendrons at Sheringham Park again in June.

and that's the sea behind this gorgeous riot of colour!

Finish with a cheeky boy picture through the Rhododendron tunnels
